I fell in love many years ago in Thailand, like many visitors to this wonderful country, with good reason. The beauty of places like Phuket, Koh Samui, etc. is well documented, but less known is the north-eastern Thailand, a region known as Isaan. Isaan is used on the Korat Plateau (Korat is the local name for the city of Nakhon Ratchasima) and theEast the Mekong River and bordered to the north of Cambodia to the south and the mountains of Phetchabunseparated from the center of Thailand.
Isaan is the poorest part of Thailand, as agriculture is the economic mainstay, but the hot, dry climate does not help, exit! Despite this, people always smile and are truly the best out of life. And 'disappointing to see how they can be so happy if the West have so little in terms of money, and health, not to mention the lack of any type of work that social security should not!
Usare some significant differences between the Central Thailand Isaan and this is evident when one - first come most people do not speak Thai, speak Isaan, which is similar to Lao (except in the vicinity of Cambodia, where they speak Khmer) Although schools are now under way to teach the alphabet and the Thai language. The second thing is, you see, the food is - almost everything is served with Khao nio (sticky rice) and there is heavy use of chilli, so be careful if you do not like spicy food! They arecould see a lot of Mor Lam, traditional Isan / Lao People's music and dance, choreography rule rather than mere theater to folk music with a lot of dancers (mostly women) routines to do well in extravagant costumes. Viewing a must for any new visitors to the region.
A really good way to start the Isaan region of experience at the top, traveling Nong Khai (near Vientiane, capital of Laos) and down the Mekong River to Isaan, since the boundarybetween Isaan and Laos, crossing cities such as Mukdahan, but above all you can experience rural life in Isaan and answer some of the nicest people that can do justice to a. The only drawback of this plan is that she has lost most of Isaan, which ...... not near the river and then you go back and explore the rest of the region, later!
I hope this has done for the normal tourist areas in Thailand for at least part of your holidayLeave and go check the Northeast.
