Wilderness Adventure - Thailand
Thailand has always had a special place in my heart instead. I traveled there in 1991, a child with wide-eyed wet behind the ears with a bucket shop one way ticket to Bangkok. My big plans for a short break before the beach along the east coast of Australia Accession 1000 Apple pilgrims earn the right of way is not exactly according to plan. I left Thailand after eleven months to return home penniless, emancipated and full of great stories,my friends got bored with that soon.
I went back several times in the first instance in Bangkok and Koh Samui happy to be back in the land of smiles, but I feel a bit 'disappointed change. The old history of the development, good for the locals but no good for my sense of adventure. That did not stop me from entering the Imaginative Traveller Wilderness Adventure two years ago.
Arriving in Bangkok this time was different. I had booked a hotel, so no lugging around in your backpackBangkok suffocating gas mixture, heat and moisture, look for a clean bed. I had to meet a group that was also good to eat Pad Thai just looking for a traveling companion for a meeting with strike can be hard work. There were 10 of us, a mix of Poms, Australians, one Canadian, one American and one South African. We all met for dinner, and shortly after my first Thai beer I knew it was a fun trip
Bangkok to me means eating and shopping and find the best placeChata Chuck market is weekend. I went there with an empty stomach and wallet full of determined, the two vice-versa. The market is huge, really huge, sold 35 acres large and cheap is everything from furniture to clothes real fake. Street food is fantastic, but I remember the Thais like it hot. I left my purchases to maintain the structure as I would be there to come back when I finished the trip.
Off to Chiang Mai train during the night. I like to travel like this,Asleep while driving makes sense to me, and the train is clean, functional, safe and refined. I think to escape Chiang Mai is the ideal place for busy Bangkok. It 's a quiet and happy and is reflected in the locals. Sightseeing takes you to the temple of Wat Doi Suthep take Pratat - gorgeous and golden on a sunny day. The next leg of the trip was trekking in the jungle that surrounds it, I decided that I needed a massage before you leave.
A hike in the mountains of Northern Thailand is a possibilityEscape the everyday life and a clear head. The performance is not too difficult for a person with fairly good condition, although even if it rains the mud to be complicated. I liked my head space when we arrived the first village of wooden houses, pecking chickens and lots of smiles, simple, but I could not think of any other I would have preferred. Chan, our guide was a local from a nearby village and it was not long before he had shared before the sun got us at our village hostthe inhabitants of the city difficult for us not to do without electricity. roll of the night with the noise of the surrounding jungle, lying on a mattress on a bamboo stick, which perhaps was a good night's sleep I've ever had.
The next day trip was shorter and we covered ground quickly, maybe we have always been used for hiking, but I think it was the excitement of the elephant ride to come this afternoon. The lunch was delicious, but we were too busy watching the elephants in the river to washnotice. Elephants are creatures of light and deeper into the jungle pilgrimage is a wonderful experience.
The next morning, Chan had helped him up too early and the men of the village, build our rafts to take us down the river to civilization. It's all part of the experience and help children to make my stay out of the way as she skillfully crafts our rafts. A serene float to the next town, where our bus is waiting to take us to a hot shower and had to take anotherMassage.
We left Chiang Mai and again returned to Bangkok, where we broke the journey south with a night in the city of angels.
I had a couple of good things about Khoa Sok National Park, not too popular with tourists and backpackers because it is not on a main bus stop. To get there, you have the bus stop by the 3rd Banyan Tree after 17 Stream near the big hill and wait for Bakke to find, take in the park. I'm glad we had a tour guide. L 'first night we stayed with the birds in tree houses made the second and third we were in raft houses on a man dam. It 's a very nice area and some of us spent the day swimming in waterfalls, caves flooded, kayaking and hiking, and some just sat back and took everything
How to end this trip to Thailand? On the beach of course. The islands around Krabi are, what we see when we think of a Thai beach and do not let them down. The Thais have a word called Sabai, meltedtranslated means inner happiness and satisfaction. I woke up one morning from a nap on the beach and knew exactly what it means Sabai.
